## What Show Me Long Term Care covers

Show Me Long Term Care lets you see how a licensed Missouri long-term care facility did on its inspections. You choose a county or city, or enter a five-digit ZIP code, and the site lists the facilities with links to their results. It covers assisted living facilities, residential care facilities, intermediate care facilities and nursing facilities.

**A current gap to know about.** Missouri's site says that, because of a move to a new federal reporting system, the latest survey and complaint results for certified skilled nursing facilities are temporarily incomplete there. Results for state-licensed assisted living and residential care facilities are not affected. For certified nursing homes, use Medicare's Care Compare for the most current information.

## Ask the facility for the record

Missouri requires licensed long-term care facilities to post their most recent inspection results where residents and the public can see them, and to keep copies of state notices of violations and plans of correction available for public inspection. If a report is not online yet, ask to see it on your visit. A facility that hesitates is telling you something.

### Before you visit a Missouri facility

1. Look the facility up on Show Me Long Term Care
2. For a nursing home, check Care Compare as well
3. Ask to see the posted inspection results when you visit
4. Ask what was found and how it was corrected
5. Ask how the facility handles a resident whose needs increase

## If something worries you

- **Missouri DHSS hotline:** 1-800-392-0210, seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., for abuse, neglect or exploitation, including concerns in long-term care facilities.
- **Missouri Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program:** 800-309-3282. Trained volunteers help residents of long-term care facilities use their rights. The program advocates for residents; it does not inspect or enforce.
- **Emergency:** if someone is in danger, call 911.
